My macro skills are expandable. Nevertheless, I like to try to capture small things in the garden and in the forest.
I often use vintage lenses, also called “old glass”. What pleases me about macro photography with old lenses is the experimental approach, because you don’t have much success here with classic photographic rules.
I can adapt my lenses very well to my Sony. Among others, I try out Carl Zeiss, but also Meyer Görlitz, Olympus and Pentacon lenses. Very cheap Helios or crazy Taylor-Hobson optics, some of which I have “converted”, make beautiful “swirl images”, but without the usual sharpness of modern lenses. All I need now is time to use everything sufficiently.
